The counter where the all the magic happens. |
From breakfasts to late night snacks, this place has got you covered. And since we are talking about roti, there is no better time to have this morning staple than well, in the morning. Coming here is always a treat to me, whether its for a quick bite or for a satisfying breakfast.
The original classic |
Roti canai here is something to try and for some, a thing worth dying for. Its flaky like a croissant and yet chewy, akin to a light naan. And just like naan, various savoury curries are in order. Every one has their favourite, and to me its the dhall. It has a sweet aftertaste as it is cooked with daikon, an ingredient that is not necessarily found in mamaks or indian establishments in general. But having that with a dollop of sambal is just a combination that is great to the senses. A piece is RM1.50. It is definitely slightly on the pricey side, but you cannot complain much when the roti canai is this good.
And do not just take my word for it, as the Star newspaper has named it the best roti canai in Klang Valley back in 2014. Here is the link if you would like to read more about it.
Grandma's favourite morning munchdown |
If you are up for some thosai, or dosa to some of you, this place does not disappoint. Simple but effective, it has a crispy and tangy profile to it. It is very light and it goes well with the coconut chutney that is usually served with. There are other variations like thosai rawa and thosai with ghee. However, the classic one is still my pick. It was about RM 2.30 for a serving of thosai, and it comes not only with the coconut chutney, but also its signature dhall and a side of fish curry sauce.
Crispy and fluffy all together. |
Patrons looking for a sweet delight need not worry as well if curry is not your thing. Sweet apams are available here and they are served alongside a coconut milk and sugar dip. It is similar to the thosai but has a more dense center which is almost pancake like. A good alternative to the thosai, and it can be eaten on its own. My father likes have it alongside with the notoriously famous dhall. It also stands with a price of RM2.30
A somewhat extensive menu. Pick you poison when ready! |
This is a place that I always come time and time again, either with friends or family or at times just on my own. And it is a place where alot of friendships were made and many bellies were filled. Come to think of it, I am surprised at myself as I have yet to write about this establishment which is just a 5 min drive away from home which I drop by often. And if you are not a meat eater, do not worry as you can just omit the chicken and fish curries. Most people would have known where this is located, but if you are not from this part of the world, the address is as follows:
