The Jucy Lucy Burger @ Jucy Lucy Daimyo, Chuo Ward , Fukuoka

It sometimes amazes me as to how good the burger game in Fukuoka is. And I am not counting fast food outlets, although I was overjoyed when Burger King reopened near my office. Well that is a story for another day. In the meantime, let us look into something that is probably more interesting than that, a cheese stuffed patty!

A peek inside

Me and a group of friends went to Jucy Lucy Daimyo for a birthday party during a weekend. As the name suggests, the place sells the infamous Jucy Lucy. And yes I am very aware that some people spell it as Juicy Lucy, with the "i" inside. But it seems that "Jucy" is also an acceptable spelling. Well, I did not make the rules yeah. With that being said, it was very obvious what my order for the day to be. Also it stood at a very modest 660 yen, and with a 300 yen upgrade for a drink and fries? That is great value.

Oozy

When my burger landed on my table, it definitely looked very juicy. The cheese was bursting out of the patty, giving it a sloppy but still enticing exterior. Eating it was actually a chore. But luckily being Japan, you are given paper pockets for you to hold the burger in and keep your hands clean while preventing everything from falling apart.

Burger in a paper pocket? Big brain move there!

It tasted very basic, but it was still incredible. You have your usual suspects in the form of the veggies and bun. But they are pretty fresh and helped hold everything together. Of course the star is the patty. The patty is of course, juicy. The cheese on the inside also gave an extra flavour and textural element. It was creamy, slightly salty, and very decadent. Combining it with the punchy flavour of fresh beef was a combination that is a surefire winner.

A classic take.

It should be noted that they do not just do the Jucy Lucy, and there are other variations in store. For someone who would like a more classic take, then the bacon egg burger will hit the spot well. Standing at 770 yen for the burger, this can be incredibly filling and would be an easier eating experience.

What a monster!

But if you are really hungry and you want to have something ultra messy, then the mac and cheese burger is what you need to have. Its essentially a regular cheeseburger with mac and cheese. Looked like an absolute beast of a burger and had an imposing presence. Those are not words I usually choose to describe a burger. However, if you see it in person, you will understand. With all that macaroni flowing out like a violent waterfall, you will definitely be full after that. And it was pretty good too. The creamy sauce and al dente pasta gave this a very interesting edge to it all. This stood for 700 yen, which is an absolute bargain for this gutbuster.

Front of the house. Do note that it is located at the 2nd floor of this building.

With such great prices and quality food, I am sure to visit this place again. Eventhough everything looked so simple, but simple is done right can be pretty astounding. So if you are a burger feind like myself,  you would do yourself a disservice by not coming here. And if that has caught your attention, then the address is as follows:

〒810-0041 Fukuoka, Chuo Ward, Daimyo, 1 Chome−9−18 O sh'are House,  2nd Floor
