Cendol @ Deen CT Corner, Taman Jubilee, Ipoh

Time for something frosty!

One thing I like about living in this country is the variety of cold and icy confections you canenjoy to bust the heat. Especially, when there are days when it is just boiling. So on a previous trip to Ipoh, do what the locals do and get some cendol.

A simple menu for a simple establishment. Still good though.

There are a variety of famous stalls, and the one that was closest to me at the time was Deen CT Corner. Being i business for over 20 years, you know you will be taken care off by an experienced maestro.

A simple and quaint corner, literally, it serves the standard fare of cendol, with some choices of topping. You can add corn, adzuki beans or glutinous rice into the mix. Being a little greedy, I took them all! And that variant is called cendol PJK, which stands for Pulut, Jagung and Kacang.

A simple yet sweet delight, the base bowl was RM2, and if you would like toppings, then the prices will vary. And if you want all the toppings it will be RM3.50. A surcharge of RM.50 is imposed for takeaways.

Dessert is served.

A rustic experience indeed, as it has been a while since i sat by a footpath pavement eating something out of a metal bowl. Real old school indeed. The coconut base is well, as expected and flavoured well with the gula melaka. The coconut flavour is a bit mild, which is fine. However, I know there are many out there like it extra thick and creamy. I like thick and creamy too but I like this slightly runny texture as well. Each to their own.

A little mix around and you can see the glorious contents.

The corn added some saltiness and crunch, while the adzuki complimented the corn as it was unsweetened. The glutinous rice however, was sweetened. So once you mix it all together you get a medley of flavours and textures which harmonizes well. And do not forget the cendol strands. Fragrant and springy, its what you want in your bowl of cendol.

You cannot miss this sign

A decent place and reasonably priced, Deen CT does give you a satisfying bowl to help you muster on some strength for the hot days. Feeling like having a go? The address is as follows:
