Lunch Bowl @ RAW, Food Junction, Avenue K, Kuala Lumpur

I am a regular guy with a regular job and as such, I have regular lunch hours. Yup, I am not paid for any of the material in the TOG, well at least not yet. And because of that I have the common problem of picking lunch options during the working hours. But what if I tell you that you can have a colourful serving of an array of dishes, that is healthy and tasty? R.A.W. Juicery & Eatery has the answer. And like some finds, it comes from an unlikely location, which is a stall at food court in a local mall.

A very simple menu, but a lot of variety. YOu can order juices too

The premise is very simple. Akin to Subway, you start building your lunch bowl by choosing a carb base of pink potatoes or brown rice. After that, you pick a choice of protein and 2 sides of vegetables. And to finish off your lunch bowl, you pick from a variety of sauces and toppings. Sounds easy doesn't it? Well, it sounds like that on paper but it is harder when you are in the thick of things.

The line begins here

The counter is lined with a huge variety of dishes which opens up a door of possibilities. The best thing about R.A.W. is that if the type of combinations you can muster up. Combining various flavours and pairing them is a huge chunk of the fun.

A bowl consisting of peri-peri chicken, aloo gobi, corn succotash and chimichuri

Proteins can range from peri-peri chicken, stir fried beef and tofu for the vegetarians out there. The veggie dishes are also very varied. Feel free to choose warm stir fries or curries. If you want something with some zing, then kimchi or acar will be more of your liking. Sauces too are not spared from the monster of variety. Fancy something spicy, sambal or curry sauce will tickle your fancy. Needing something zesty, chimichuri may be the pick for you. If you want something special though, my personal favourite is the salted egg and chilli sauce, which is sweet, salty, creamy and decadent.

To finish it all off, you can choose 2 toppings to be sprinkled on top for some extra bite and flavour. My usual choices are sunflower seeds and roasted garlic. Also, it is good to note that there are vegetarian friendly options in tow. So if you want to omit some meat or just want to have a lunch that is a little light, a vegetarian bowl seems to be your best bet.

The beef stew was just a part of this epic flavour bomb.
And as they ran out of braised daikon, this bowl was given a additional serving of pickled cucumber.
the creamy salted egg sauce is not far behind.

Prices do vary with the size of your bowl. As for me, the medium bowl which stands at RM14 seems to fill me up very well. If you are a salary man slugging off in the heart of KL, why not give this stall a go? Do come early though as some of the more popular dishes like the aforementioned peri-peri chicken will be wiped out before you step in.
