Donuts & Coffee @ Justice Brown, Tenjinbashi, Osaka
Although I am a huge donut fiend, I realise that I never. Even after seven full years! So why not take this opportunity to do it justice, pun intended. During a work trip in Osaka, I was fortunate enough to get some personal time for myself to wander around and reacquaint myself with this amazing city. So while exploring the Tenjinbashi shopping street area, I found a cute donut and coffee shop that caught my attention. Enter Justice Brown.

Chic |
The name does sounds more like the name of a main character in some legal serial drama, but actually, it is a donut cafe and has nothing to do with law or legal culture. Well, my full time job does mess about my head sometimes as I do read into nuances too much at times. In any event I am definitely looking forward to some deep fried goodies.

So looking forward to this. |
Although the establishment has various flavours to choose from, I opted to get the classic plain sugar one alongside a glass of iced coffee. The deep fried delight stood at 330 yen while the coffee was 500 yen. It is a bit more expensive than Mr Donut, but for sometimes justice is not free. Despite the more premium price, the overall experience was pretty justified. Pun intended

Beautiful close up |
The donut was more unusual than my usual Mr Donut order or the occasional snack from my local supermarket. The surface is rough and craggly, akin to deep fried eggs. However, the outer crust was actually quite pleasant. It gave an interesting crunch which then lead into the ultra soft interior which I really enjoyed. The inside of this donut felt like a pillow and words cannot describe as to how soft and luscious the inside is.

Look at that texture... divine |
Does it feel like cotton ? Not quite but it is very close to this. Imagine white bread but with more air pockets. There was that nutty aroma coming from the oil which made it more interesting, but it was not like some oil slick where you may use to power a biofuel truck. The plain sugar flavour was also a good choice I feel as I think any stronger flavours may temper the purity of this amazing fried delight. Honestly, this is probably my most unusual donut experience. And I mean that I a good way.

Much needed coffee fix |
The coffee is not too bad too. The bitterness help contrast and balance out the sweetness of the bundle of friend dough. I do feel that it is a bit overpriced for the flavour and quantity, but I digress. it did have a nice mouth feel and help cool me down. Despite being the season in between winter and spring, it was surprisingly hot. So this cold beverage was greatly welcomed.

The front of the house. You can't miss it |
Overall, this was a very nice snack to have late morning. It was very enjoyable, but i would probably recommend it only if you are here already. This part of the city can be a bit hard to get by although it is near the famous Osaka Tenmagu shrine. If you are visiting the shrine or the shotengai next door, this will be a nice detour. So if you fancy a go, then the address is as follows:
〒530-0041 Osaka, Kita Ward, Tenjinbashi, 2 Chome−4−3 Daigumachi Kyouen Building1F
