Vegetable Noodle Soup @ Silver River Restoran, Triang, Pahang
Some times the best meals occur at the most unassuming places.
The sign at the front door |
In a recent Buddhist retreat organised by Rinchen Jangsem Ling, a few attendees and I wandered around for breakfast and we found a quaint kopitiam that seems to fit the bill. Silver River is a kopitiam that serves a variety of noodle dishes and I decided to give the spinach noodles with vegetables a try.
The bowl to start the day |
To my utmost surprise, and delight, the noodles tend out to be like ramen. Still reeling from the Japanese culinary withdrawal symptoms, this bowl of noodles was a good suppressant. The noodles was florescent green and had a very fresh and vibrant taste to it. It had some serious spring to it, similar to hard ramen you might get in Japan.
Strands of awesome |
The soup was clear and I am not too sure if the soup is vegetable based or chicken stock. Topped it off with a poached egg, and that was indeed a hearty breakfast. And on the side, I had a kaya and butter toastie.
The morning mana potion |
Coffee here was very good as well, as it is so thick, it practically looked like ink. And it stains like ink. It was strong in flavour but quite mild in the caffeine department. Not really a bad thing, as I do not think caffeinated induced Dutch courage would be a good thing to have when it is not a working day. Great as a dip for the toastie.

A surprisingly good and filling find. Triang may not be in everyone's radar, as it is a railway and plantation town that is located in the center of the peninsular. But it is a nice little town to escape to if the hustle and bustle of the city is a bit too much. A peaceful town and quiet, this place has surprisingly a few good food haunts which I would try, if I were to visit again.
