Indian Lunch @ WTF Restaurant, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.

It has been a long while since I have highlighted Indian cuisine in the TOG. And if you like spicy food, boy do I have have something for you. In fact, if you like food in general, this is an establishment that is worth of at least one visit.

Still early in the day

WTF can stand for many things, which is part of the charm of this eatery. And with such a name, it piqued the interest of many. Despite a flashy name, the food speaks for themselves. Hearty and classic Indian dishes, with a few modern variations, the food here is top notch.

Crunchy!

And my party of two kick things off with a spinach cutlet. How can a vegetable be a cutlet? Well, if you deep fry food, anything is possible. Pounded into a smooth paste, which is more to a croquette, teardrops of crunchy and tasty morsels were accompanied with a creamy and spicy mint sauce. This will probably make your doctor happy as this was loaded with greens. He may give you a scornful look due to it being deep fried and golden. But heck, what is exercise for? The set of three cutlets was for RM16.

Styles clash

The next in line is my favourite Indian snack, panni puri. Mini hand grenades of flavour, I thoroughly enjoyed this entree. The sour panni, combined with a sweet fruit chutney and a savoury potato filling made this a multi-spectrum dish that was really enjoyable. Not the best I had I may have to honestly say. The best would be from Tandoor Grill (click here), but a top contender indeed. This plate stood for RM13.

This was good, like really good.

If you need something more substantial, why not have some barbecue? More specifically, tandoori and cheese as the main protein. Paneer tikka came soon after and this was another show stopper. The cheese was soft yet firm, which gives a very interesting texture. And the marinade was nutty and vibrant, but it did not go too off the rails. What caught us by surprise was the carrot pickles that came with it. It was zesty and slightly fruity and pack a gorgeous crunch. This great dish stood for RM24.

Cheesy

And to pair the cheese, why not have more cheese? Our carb of choice was the cheese paratha. This is not your usual roti from the mamak. It was very substantial and had a firm bite to it. Wrap it around the tandoori and you have a grilled cheese sandwich that you thought was only obtainable in your dreams. A set with a side of cashew gravy stood for RM18.

Front of the house. You cannot miss the sign.

If you have figured it out by now, there is no meat here as WTF is a vegetarian specialty restaurant. Do not let it deter you though. The food is great, the staff is friendly, and the prices are reasonable.  And if you would like to know WTF this place is all about, then head down to Bangsar and find it out for yourself! The address is as follows:

98, Lorong Maarof, Bangsar, 59100 Kuala Lumpur
