Coffee @ Uniqlo Coffee Ginza, Ginza, Tokyo

Some of my close friends know I am a huge fan of Uniqlo. I like the way it fits and the simple style that seems to match my taste. And this is even before I moved to Japan. My history with Uniqlo began way back in 2008 when I bought my first hoodie from the high street back in Reading. It may not be very apparent in the blog, as it is about food and not clothes. But alas, a post to finally express my appreciation is here.

Around September 2021, the flagship outlet in Ginza opened a cafe within its walls.  More specifically, the 12th floor. It has the classic modern minimalistic style you would probably expect from most, if not all of its stores worldwide. This makes for a calming aesthetic. Then again, we are here for coffee so what do they have in store? For starters, I ordered their signature blend hot which stood at a modest 200 yen, definitely one of the cheapest coffee on this side of the city that is not a combini. Accompanying it is a pack of butter cookies whereby 2 pieces stood at 250 yen.

The coffee was actually pretty decent, with hints of fruitiness and a bit of peatiness. Whisky drinkers would probably know what I mean. It has a bit of a dry texture to it, which makes for an interesting sip. But as you may have probably read in past posts, I prefer woody and sweeter coffee profiles and acidic flavours are not really my thing. This is not a knock against the product, but it is just not something of my preference. Still, I will understand if other people would enjoy it.

Crunch time.

The cookies were pretty decent too. It was buttery, mildly sweet, and had a nice crunch. There are shards of peanuts which gave it some extra texture and flavour. However, do note it does taste like any good butter cookie you can get from a high-end supermarket or a fancy cafe. Although, you may not find any which has the name UNIQLO branded on it. That being said, only one out of the two has that name etched. Still, a good companion to the coffee.

More treats... if you so fancy.

In conclusion, were the coffee and cookies good?  I would say yes. But if you are coming here just for them then you may be a little disappointed. Having said that, if you need a pick-me-up that is friendly to your wallet in the center of Ginza, then Uniqlo Coffee Ginza would be a good option to choose. They do have other drinks and snacks as well. The dorayaki did look appealing.

That classic feel.

You can opt for an eating-in experience or you can have it to go. If you would like to sit at the premises, there is a small bar counter that can fit 5 people. So if you are within the area, why not give it a go? The location is as follows:

〒104-0061 Tokyo, Chuo City, Ginza, 6 Chome−9−5 1-12F

Entrance to the flagship store.
Also, the roads in Ginza are closed off during the weekends, making it an interesting stroll
